Courtney Watson has been working in the field of sports medicine since 2000. Her passion and love for helping athletes and students accomplish their health goals through mentorship and leadership are her greatest attributes. Working with all levels of sports from youth to amateurs to professional athletes, Ms. Watson always strives to offer the best care possible. Ms. Watson is currently in her sixth year as the Head Athletic Trainer for the WNBA's premier Los Angeles Sparks. She also has experience serving the community through athletic training services and an extensive internship. Her skill set coupled with her love for basketball, boxing, baseball, and football has allowed her to serve some of the best athletes in the world.
Ms. Watson began her professional career in 2005 directing the sports medicine staff in the NBA Development League (Anaheim Arsenal) and the WNBA (Houston Comets). She has traveled internationally conducting performance clinics with professional athletes in such places as Turkey, Korea and Italy. Caring for athletes and creating a solid foundation for developing optimal performance is a passion that exudes from Ms. Watson every time she helps athletes reach their maximum potential.
During the off-season, Ms. Watson decided to create and grow her sports medicine internship, which the Court's Corner LA Internship is modeled after today. The internship targets aspiring high school and college students across the country looking to pursue careers in sports medicine. Ms. Watson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley and a Masters of Science in Injury Prevention and Sports Performance from the California University of Pennsylvania. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainer Association and holds certifications and credentials through the National Academy of Sports Medicine in Performance Enhancement and the American Safety & Health Institute as a CPR/First Aid Instructor. Ms. Watson is a native of Los Angeles, California.
